Oh Boise!

Right now we are in Salt Lake City and Copeland is playing. The Big Easy in Boise was a lot of fun and we had a day off in Boise too.

Our show in Spokane went alright, it wasn't the turnout we would have liked but is WAS Spokane on a Sunday night...what can you expect? The band is still finding their footing a little too. There is a double edged sword when playing a show trying to balance the stage performance with musicality and sometimes people slip too far one way or the other. The band seems to still be finding the happy medium.

Monday, we had a day off in Boise and we were staying at the Doubletree. I took a walk into town with Kyle, the tour manager, and Dan, the drummer. We had a bite to eat, went to a used CD store and spent way too much, and then I saw a climbing gym on the way back to the hotel so I went climbing for about 2 hours before dinner and some laundry. Tuesday, (wow, that was yesterday) we had a good show at the Big Easy. A lot of Copeland fans came out for the show and a good bunch of them ended up staying for and liking the Rentals set. The band collectively pillaged the local Levi's store since most of their jeans were on sale for $19.99. Never underestimate the power of a sale. People were ready to skip meals to save some money on a pair of jeans. After the show I had a pow wow with the band and we talked about what could be worked on as far as the set goes and then got on the bus and all watched Jackass for a while. For those who are unfamiliar with the movie, it stars Jonny Knoxville and friends performing disgusting and painful, often tasteless acts from pretending to be a senile old person who shoplifts for no reason to pooping in a display toilet in a hardware store. I can't tell you how perfect a movie it is to put on for 12 people who are exhausted from performing. Everyone's stomach ached after an hour of the movie. It was a "you had to be there" moment but it was great. I know some of you are cringing already and believe me, Jackass would not have been my first choice for a film but there was something about it where people didn't have to think, we could all just laugh together. You spend so much time with each other working, creating, talking about things that matter, things that don't matter, just doing everything. To not have to talk and be able to enjoy something together is nice.

Alright Copeland is playing their last song so I am off. Hope you are all well. 5 shows down. I can't believe today marks one week.
